THURSDAY 8 OCTOBER:

Arrival day
Those arriving in groups of 10 or more will have a complimentary transfer from Beijing International Airport to the hotel. Those arriving from a pre- AGM tour will also have a complimentary transfer from the airport to the hotel. Smaller groups will be able to take advantage of a special rate for their transfer.

6.30pm meet in the lobby for dinner at a local restaurant.

There will be a bottle of water in your room per person per day. There is a Walmart (remember Hawai’i) store downstairs and across from the hotel for all your essentials needs.

FRIDAY 09 OCTOBER: Forbidden City & Summer Palace
7.30am – 9.00am
Welcome breakfast at the Sofitel Wanda Beijing.

9.00am After a leisurely breakfast visit Tiananmen Square, look across the vast space to the Great Hall of the People and stand before the massive Tiananmen (Heavenly Peace) Gate bearing a huge portrait of Mao Zedong, who stood here to proclaim the People’s Republic on 1 October 1949.
Lying behind Tiananmen Square is the Forbidden City, as the former imperial palace is called, where the magnificent marble courtyards, huge halls, gilded temples and ornate pavilions frequented by the emperors and their families are open to the public. Marvel at its magnificence.

12.00pm Lunch at a local restaurant

1.45pm Summer Palace tour - a brief tour sponsored by Imperial Expeditions.

Summer Palace, originally constructed in 1751 to celebrate the 60th birthday of Emperor Qianlong for the celebration of his mother’s 60th birthday. Beautiful pavilions and willows surround a scenic lake, which over look the pagoda-capped Jade Spring Hill and the mountains beyond.

3.00pm Visit to Aman Summer Palace Beijing for afternoon tea and inspection
5.00pm Leave Aman Summer Palace head back to hotel (peak hour traffic) reminder of the evening at leisure.

SATURDAY 10 OCTOBER: Hutong Tour

7.00am – 9.00am – Breakfast at Hotel
9.30am Depart Hotel, for a tour of Beijing’s old Hutong district, a fascinating maze of narrow alleys, old houses and hidden courtyards that comprises the Hutong area. Meet some of the people who live and work here who will welcome you into their homes. Lunch will be in these local homes as we learn how to make traditional Chinese Dumplings.

There will be time for those who wish to visit the weekend markets to do so with directions back to the hotel available.

Following lunch we will return to the hotel in time to freshen up prior to attending the AGM, followed by the Cocktail Party hosted by the Sofitel Wanda Hotel and WITIA.
4.30pm – 6.00pm
WITIA AGM
6.15pm – 7.45pm
Evening Cocktails.

Following Cocktails suggestions will be made of suitable venues for dinner.

SUNDAY 11 OCTOBER: Great Wall - Mutianyu

7.00am – 9.00am

9.00am – 3.00pm
A journey north of Beijing to the area of the Great Wall known as Mutianyu, some 90 Kms or 56 miles from Beijing. This part of the wall has a series of watchtowers along its restored length, this part of the wall dates from 1368 and was built on the foundations of the wall built during the Northern Qi dynasty 9AD 550-770).
Enjoy the cable car ride to the ramparts and then decide whether to walk down the many steps or toboggan down the fabulous slopes. Enjoy a gourmet picnic sandwich lunch on the wall.

3.00pm – 6.00pm
A little free time before we depart for a Traditional Peking Duck Dinner at Ho Hai on the Lake.

MONDAY 12 OCTOBER:

7.00am – 9.00am

9.30am – 12.00noon
This morning visit the Temple of Heaven, set in a huge park of conifers, the building represent the epitome of Ming architecture. The emperors carried out the most important sacrifices and ceremonies of the year in this place. Following this visit, experience the wonders of silk – as we visit the Silk Factory and the making of magical quilt doonas and beautiful covers.
1.00pm - 6.30pm
The afternoon is at leisure or an opportunity to do some last minute shopping.
7.30pm –
Meet in the lobby for an exciting finale to the WITIA -AGM/EDUCATIONAL of Beijing as we join together for a final magical dinner at a destination to be exposed on the night.

TUESDAY 13 OCTOBER:

Depending on flight or tour departure we say farewell to Beijing and continue our adventures.
